Retired FAA Operations Safety Inspector Married
After Gables I spent a year at FSU and transferred to the UM, graduating in 1968 with a degree in Math Education and a commission in the Air Force.  I was in Pilot training at Valdosta Ga for just over a year and moved up into central Georgia assigned to the 912th Air Refueling Squadron. I moved up the ranks to Acft. Commander and to instructor/evaluator before separating in 1973. From there, I taught flying to students at Kendal Flying School before joining the FAA as an Aviation Safety Inspector in the Miami Flight Standards Office in 1974. I left the FAA in 1980 to run the flight training department at Air Florida, and while there I met and married the love of my life. When the company went out of business I moved to Atlanta to manage the Operations Dept of a small cargo airline, but soon realized that I really belonged in the FAA. My old boss agreed to take me back (with a promotion) and I spent a short time with the FAA in Miami, again, before moving (also again) to Washington DC.  After a couple of years I transferred to the FAA office in Atlanta to supervise one of the sections of the National Simulator Program.  After 12 years I was selected to become the manager of that program where I served until 2007 when I became the Senior Advisor for Flight Training and Simulation to the Air Transportation Division Manager. I retired from the FAA in June of 2013 and began to enjoy doing "nothing" until my phone began to ring ... now I'm a flight training and simulation consultant, and wondering why being "retired" keeps me so busy and so tired! I would have LOVED to be able to join all the festivities connected with the reunion but that relentless schedule and those who depend on my time just won't let that happen.  I hope everyone enjoys themselves as richly as they each deserve - I am still fumbling with the concept that it has been 50 years ... but ... if you can attend, please do ... the committee members who worked so hard to make this happen will appreciate it greately ... and so will you!  ENJOY!     Send Ed a MessageSend Ed a Message

Retired Married 2
In our ten years in Miami, and thirty-four in Palm Beach Gardens, Cindy (Cindy Shepherd, Gables '64) and I have enjoyed life, raised two daughters -- stellar human beings, each -- pursued careers in education and project management, and now enjoy retirement.

We applaud the time spent and the results achieved by the Reunion Committee.
